NK Theatre Arts are proud to present the Stockport Premier
NK Theatre Arts are delighted to have secured the rights to an exclusive musical as they bring “School of Rock”, the Andrew Lloyd Webber smash hit to Stockport for the very first time, as they announce their performance schedule for the start of the 2022/23 season.
Based on the hit film, this hilarious musical follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn a few extra bucks by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. There he turns a class of straight-A students into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. While teaching these pint-sized prodigies what it means to truly rock, Dewey falls for the school’s beautiful, but uptight headmistress, helping her rediscover the wild child within.
Featuring 14 new songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber and all the original songs from the movie, this high-octane smash delivers face-melting guitar riffs and touching romance in equally awesome doses!
Directing the show is Dominic Stannage who said, “We are so proud to get the Stockport premiere of School of Rock. The film is just immense and I have seen the stage show many times when it opened in London and could not wait for the chance to get my hands on it. What is really exciting is the chance for some incredibly talented musicians from the borough to take centre stage here, so we definitely want to hear from anyone who thinks they may be up to the job. We will be releasing audition details very soon so make sure you keep your eye on the website for all the details.”
NK’s season begins with “Legally Blonde” staged next month. A fabulously fun award-winning musical based on the adored movie. Legally Blonde The Musical follows the transformation of Ellie Woods as she tackles stereotypes and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. Action-packed and exploding with memorable songs and dynamic dances, this musical is so much fun, it should be illegal.
Also returning this year is the brilliantly popular Halloween adult rock cabaret “The Rock and Horror Graveyard Show” which features live band, spooky ghoulish characters and some of the genre’s best-known villains.
December will also see the fantastic musical Elf performed, based on the beloved Christmas film, this hilarious fish-out-of-water comedy follows Buddy the Elf in his quest to find his true identity.
Buddy, a young orphan, mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh realities that his father is on the naughty list and his half-brother does not even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.
This modern-day classic is sure to make everyone embrace their inner elf. After all, the best way to spread Christmas Cheer is singing loud for all to hear.
