NK Theatre Arts Wins Big At NODA Awards

Stockport’s NK Theatre Arts enjoyed a great evening of success at the North West District 1 awards ceremony of the National Operatic and Dramatic Association.  The evening recognises events during 2023 and NK were nominated a total of 46 times in various categories and took home 9 awards, well ahead of any other organisation.

The award wins included the prestigious Best Show award as well as wins for Musical Direction, Choreography, Comedy, Best Youth Drama and Best All Round performer, which was awarded to youth theatre member for the very first time ahead of a string of experienced adult performers.

Kerry Day the Artistic Director for NK said

“We were thrilled to win so many awards at the recent NODA evening.  Of course a win for any of the shows in any of the categories is a win for everyone as any kind of show is dependent on so many people.  Performances can only go ahead with a cast, a crew, a director, an MD and choreographer, a Stage Manager and a tech team, not to mention all the supervisors who keep the performers safe backstage – these awards are for every single one of them.  A massive thank you to everyone involved in NK productions and we look forward to representing Stockport at the regional finals in the springtime!”

The winning awards went to:

Mia Hancox for Ann Boleyn in Six – Best Youth Comedy Performance

Sam Jeffries for Cameron in Blackberry Trout Face – Best Performance in a Youth Drama

Amy Walker – Six – Best Choreographer of a Youth Production

Ceri Graves – Six – Best Musical Director of a Youth Production

Blackberry Trout Face – Best Youth Performance

John Redfern – Dewey Finn in School of Rock – Best Vocal Performance

Freya Gow – Catherine of Aragon in Six – Best All Round Performer

Ceri Graves – School of Rock – Best Musical Director

School of Rock – Best Musical

District One has 25 different organisations from throughout Greater Manchester and all of the winners are invited to Blackpool’s Winter Gardens for the Regional Finals.  Youth awards take place on Saturday 4th May with the adult awards taking place the following evening.

NK Theatre Arts are based at The Forum Theatre, currently closed whilst a solution is sought to the RAAC concrete which has been found in the roof of the Romiley venue.
