Open Audition Wednesday 26th January 8pm

We are just the least lucky girls in all the world. All three of us. Me, you and Ruthy have all been given a big sad spoon of bad luck….
Here at NK, we are offering the exciting opportunity to audition for a incredibly dramatic contemporary play written by legendary Stockport playwright ‘Simon Stephens’
A girl growing up in a battered part of Stockport in a battered time at the end of the Seventies falls in love with the man who will break her heart into a thousand pieces. Blindsided is a surprising and romantic play about love, jealousy, and damaged lives, spanning from the beginnings of the Thatcher government in 1979 to the birth of New Labour in 1997.
We are looking for 5 truly versatile and committed actors aged 18+. 3 females are 2 males to take on the following roles.
Cathy Hayer (character age 18 – 22) – Cathy is the central character in Blindsided, she falls madly in love with John and is truly devoted to him and will go to any lengths to show this.
John Connolly (character age 19 – 29) – John is arrogant, cocky and loves himself. He is incredibly charismatic but there is a sense of danger about him.
Susan Hennessey (character age 30- 50) – Susan is a protective mother who cares deeply about her daughter. They argue constantly, but only because she cares.
Siobhan (character age 18 – 22) – Siobhan is Cathy’s best friend she loves her dearly but her head can be easily turned by John’s charm.
Isaac Berg (character age 30- 40) – Isaac is a very close family friend of Susan and Cathy, he was Cathy’s father’s best friend before he died and is like a father figure to Cathy.
The production will take place in April 2022 playing Weds 20th – Fri 22nd. This production will be taking place in our specially created in the round space, allowing the actors to engage in an intimate performance surrounded by the audience.
The auditions will take place at 8pm on Wednesday 26th January, and will be script based. There will be elements of paired work and read through.
