Murder Ballad is a new one act rock musical that is sung throughout featuring four cast members (2 male, 2 female). An onstage Narrator guides the audience through the life of Sara, a 30-something who trades her wild, carefree life for a more mundane family life. As time passes she feels like she has lost everything that made her her and tries to go back to how things were. She realises she has made a mistake and tries to right all those wrongs – but in doing so, things all go very wrong.

The story takes both the audience and the cast through a whole range of emotions; lust, love, depression, despair, anger, betrayal and revenge – all inside 90 minutes! It also raises the question of why the human condition has historically shown such interest in tales of revenge and murder.

We are looking to cast four exceptional singer/actors for this production to bring this story to life, take the audience on the journey and create an exceptional production. This will be a very real production (so not the traditional musical theatre world) and, if we do this right, the cast should be drained by the end – fortunately there is a nice, upbeat number to release tension at the end.
